If you are searching for a loft, condo, or single-family home in one of Nashville’s urban neighborhoods, are you considering what your transportation costs will be? How much time you might spend commuting from your new home to work, the gym, the places you hang out, etc.? Are you wondering if there is a bus route nearby, or bike lanes, or even greenways? I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that if you are considering a home in an urban Nashville neighborhood, these are probably considerations weighing on your mind. You likely are choosing a home near the places you work and play. Not only does it simplify your life, but it is greener and healthier for the environment (and probably your sanity, since hopefully you are cutting out a long commute in rush hour traffic).
We found this neat site that helps calculate transportation costs, and even makes recommendations on how to lower them. It’s called Abogo. Check it out! You can enter your address, or the address of the home you are hoping to soon call home, and it will do the calculations for you. (Pst, here’s how it figures it out.)
And while we’re talking transportation costs and healthy commutes…have you heard of WalkScore? We’ve learned about it a few years ago, and it’s one of our favorite tools for calculating how walkable a Nashville neighborhood or particular address is. In fact, we calculate the WalkScore of all the Nashville real estate developments we sell on each development’s page on our site.
